Gerald Harold Brown, 76, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, passed Thursday, June 18, 2020. Gerald was born to the late Donald Harold Brown, and late Elizabeth Annabelle Frazier-Brown, March 08, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was called to eternal rest at Novant Forsyth Medical Center after a battle with Covid-19.

Jerry was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System and graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1962.  He loved his community of Homewood and Lincoln-Lemington serving as a volunteer of Judge of Election for many years. Jerry loved people and had lifelong friends that enjoyed playing a game of cards as often as possible.

Private Brown served his country in 1966 as a Auto Mechanic in the Armory Unit for the US Army for 4 years. He was deployed to Fort Beaver in South Korea during the Vietnam War. During his military service he received an awards/medals: National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge, and Sharpshooter Badge. After the military, Gerald worked at City of Pittsburgh until he retired in 2010. In 2003 he was honored with the City of Pittsburgh Customer Service Award.

He married Eugenia Dawn Akers-Brown in 2004, and they lived together in Pittsburgh, PA.  They met and married at Mt-Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA.  He had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at a young age.  Jerry was a very devoted member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church for many years. He had the gift of hospitality and served faithfully on several Usher Boards and the Male Choir.  He also volunteered at the Sharing and Caring Ministry.  The couple moved to Winston-Salem, NC in April 2016 connected with a new church family at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.  God blessed them with 16 years of marriage and love together.
