Gerald Lee HughesGerald Lee Hughes, 72, of Nampa passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 surrounded by family after a well fought battle with melanoma. He was born on November 12, 1942 to Vernace (Ted) and Lillian Swanson Hughes in Georgetown Township, Wisconsin. He was the first son in a family of seven. His whole life was devoted to hard work, sacrifice and putting others before himself. He graduated from Unity High School in 1961 and went to work for Jess Peterson's Sawmill. He later moved to Glendive, MT where he worked with his uncle Clarence Davis. He moved to Norco, CA and worked with Bob Baird. Bob helped him start his own Trucking business.Gerald married Joyce Pike in February of 1964. They were blessed with four children.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the Kuna LDS Stake Center on the corners of Black Cat and Kuna Roads. A viewing will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) and at the church Friday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services.
