Conboy, Gerald M. "Jerry"Gerald M. "Jerry" Conboy, 88, of Montrose, PA, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the endless Mountains Health Systems. He was born on December 24, 1928 on Irish Hill to the late Leo W. and Mary Ellen "Mae" (Curley) Conboy. His wife of 39 years, Rose (Groboski) Conboy, predeceased him. Surviving are his four children and spouses, Dan Conboy, Debbie and Larry Purtell, Christopher Conboy, Carol and Howie Jarnagin, six grandchildren, Tyler Singleton, Ben Nelson, Alan (Shannon Matolka) Nelson, Heather (Charlie) Hitchcock Mann, Josh and Kerri Jarnagin, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Mary Ann Conboy, Frank Conboy, sisters-in-law, Shirley Conboy, Marge Conboy, Jean Smolinsky, and brother-in-law, Bob Fedroff, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Don, Bill, Father Joe, and Ed Conboy, sister, Eileen Fedroff.Jerry was a member of the Rush Fire Dept. for 59 years, and chief for 15 years, he was also a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church. He was a forest fire warden for the DCNR for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War overseas in Germany. He worked at Crane's Agway in Vestal, NY for 43 years, retiring as a manager; he then went to work at the Montrose Produce for 10 more years. Jerry's hobby was riding his four-wheeler with his grandchildren where they would visit the neighbors.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, PA, with Rev. Casimir Stanis officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Flynn, PA. Visitations will be Monday form 4 to 7 p.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, PA. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's name can be made to Rush Fire Dept. P.O. Box 5, Lawton, PA 18828 or the Montrose Minute Men, P.O. box 461, Montrose, PA 18801. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at EMHS and the re-hab staff at Meadow View Senior Living center for the father's care. They would also like to send special thanks to life-long friends, Dale Grover and Paul (Sonny) Hibbard.
