Mrs. Geraldine E. "Geri" Ciprich, age 87, of SR 6, Laceyville, Pa., Black Walnut, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 19, 2016 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, in Scranton, Pa., Geri was born on Dec. 27, 1928 in Tunkhannock, Pa., the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Marian Herman Cook. After moving from the Tunkhannock area to the Laceyville area, Geri was a graduate of the Laceyville High School, with the class of 1946. During her younger years, she was employed as a telephone operator in Laceyville, along with her mother and sister. Geri married Ignatius F. "Ig" Ciprich, of Laceyville, and together they raised their family in Black Walnut, Pa., until his death on Nov. 26, 1988.Throughout the years, Geraldine was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, of Meshoppen and Wyalusing, and was a past member of the Parish Alter and Rosary Society. She was also an active member of the Rought Hall Post No. 510 American Legion Auxiliary of Black Walnut, Pa. She was a member of the Laceyville Birthday Club and the Laceyville Oldest House Society. And in her spare time, Geri enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and playing Bejeweled on her computer. Her best of times was spent being surrounded by her large family.Surviving are her children, Thomas and his wife Janet Ciprich, of Sackets Harbor, N.Y., Jane and her husband Eugene Ryan, of Black Walnut, Pa., Judy and her husband Graham Wheel, of Seattle, Wash., and Robert Ciprich, of Covington, Ky.She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin Gaspard, of Tunkhannock, Pa., Toby Ciprich, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Janelle Rudock of Binghamton, N.Y., Jennifer Cavanaugh, of New Jersey, Michael Ryan of Black Walnut, Pa., and Derek Wheel of Seattle, Wash.; as well as six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Cook, and a sister, Anna Mae Jayne.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 from the Sheldon Funeral Homes, Main Street, Laceyville, Pa., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, in Wyalusing, Pa., with Fr. Joseph Manarchuck of the church officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joachim's Cemetery in Meshoppen, Pa. Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, 2016 at the funeral home.
