WYKHUIZEN, Gerda "Geertje"Gerda Wykhuizen passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB at Prince of Peace Harbour on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the age of 91 years and 8 months. Gerda was born on June 18, 1925, in Rotterdam, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1950 with her loving husband Dirk and settled in the city of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Dirk; her brother and parents in Holland. Gerda is survived by her daughter Joanne (Larry) Bell; two grandsons Dirk and Aaron; three great-grandchildren Trinity, Adriana and Theodore; niece Nancy (Phillip) Baker and nephew Dick (Sandy) Berreth; numerous friends and family in Canada and the Netherlands. A very special thank you to all the staff at Prince of Peace Harbour for their excellent care and attention to Gerda during her stay with them. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer's Society of Calgary, 201, 222-58 Ave S.W, Calgary, AB T2H 2S3.
