Jerry went home to our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016. He was born on Aug. 24, 1952, to Pedro and Lilly Mares in Buena Vista.Jerry enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He liked joking around and making people laugh. He will be missed by many.He leaves behind his wife, Lucy L. Mares; son and daughter, Jerry Mares Jr. and Alice Mares of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Donna Tarango and son, Emilio, Rudy (RJ), Jonothan and Jesse Roybal, all of Rio Rancho; Barbara, Destiny and Evangeline Mares of Chacon; brothers and sisters, Adonice Mares, Eddie (Cathy) Mares, Jesses (Patty) Mares, Dora Maes, Virginia (Antonio) Maes, Julia Lovato, Maria L. Mares, Gloria (Tommy) Gallegos and Daniel Mares; brother and sisters-in-law: Juan (Arsilia) Herrera, Mike Herrera of San Geronimo, Viola B. Herrera, Lupe Garcia and Viola P. Herrera.A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, also at St. Gertrude Church with Father Dennis Dolter, SOLT, as celebrant.
