Gerret SchoorlOctober 8, 1933 - October 1, 2016Gerret Schoorl, 82, of Nampa, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2016 surrounded by family members. Garrett was born on October 8, 1933 to Pete and Ida Schoorl in Vale, Oregon where he was raised.At the age of 18 he enlisted in the US Army and served 18 months in the Korean War. He was discharged honorably and returned home. He spent the rest of his life ranching and farming and most of all he was an avid horseman and cowboy.He is survived by his wife Sharon; his children Tina Pentacoff, Jeanie (Ray) Simmons, John (Kristin) Schoorl, Pete (Christy) Schoorl, Donald (Sonia) Schoorl, Reese (Lawanda) Schoorl, and his three stepsons, Jake (Jennatte) Crossley, Tyson (Amanda) Crossley, Bo (Brooke) Crossley; two brothers Rex and Casey and his sister Liz; numerous nieces and nephews; and many many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and his son Gerret Douglas Schoorl.At his request there will be no memorial services held.
