DeJONG, GerritGerrit DeJong passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen of 29 years, four brothers, and two sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Amanda and MaryEllen; granddaughter, Danniela Morgan; numerous nieces, nephews; extended family; and friends. Gerrit was born on November 16, 1933. He lived through WWII and immigrated to Canada shortly after the war was over. He spent time in Halifax, Montreal, Edmonton and finally Regina where he met his wife and started a family. Gerrit was a professional painter for numerous years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was crazy about all sweets, especially ice cream. He loved to make jokes and could make any room laugh with his quick wit. Gerrit was a true Rider fan and would often tell anyone who would listen what he thought about the current season. The family would like to express a special thank you to the workers of Santa Maria and King's Life Wellness for the care and love of their daddy for the past year.
