Gertrude O. Martinez, 82, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, born and raised in Sheridan, passed away on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014.She was born on Aug. 2, 1932 in Sheridan to the late Nicholas Ortiz and Adelia Rodriguez Ortiz.She was a child-care provider and she loved cooking, embroidery, camping, and spending time with family and grandchildren A Catholic, and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Adelia Ortiz; husband, Ramon L. Martinez; sons, Ramon S. Martinez, Jr., Larry Martinez, and Armando Martinez; sister, Nora Trujillo; brothers, Porfirio Ortiz, Apolonio Ortiz, Gonecindo Ortiz, José Ortiz, Teodoro Ortiz and Benny Ortiz; and son-in-law, Eddie Archuleta.She is survived by sons, Gilbert Martinez, Charles "Chaz" Martinez and Joseph Martinez, all of Las Vegas; daughters, Diane O. Martinez, and Mary Ann Martinez, both of Las Vegas; granddaughter raised as a daughter, June Mendez Archuleta and husband, Larry, of Albuquerque; grandson raised as a son, Eddie Archuleta Jr. of Virginia; grandchildren, Susan Estrada and husband, Mark, Richard Martinez, Gilbert Martinez Jr., and wife, Jamie, Justin Martinez, Ashley Martinez and boyfriend, Salvador, Greg Martinez Emilio Martinez and Antoinette Martinez; numerous grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Jaramillo and Rose Trujillo, both of Las Vegas; brother, Antonio Ortiz and wife, Helen, of Albuquerque; daughters-in-law, Andrea Martinez and Antonia Martinez, both of Las Vegas; brother-in-law, Ray Trujillo of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Isabel Ortiz, Pita Ortiz, Tillie Jordan, all of Las Vegas, and Carmen Ortiz of California; brother-in-law, Alejandro Martinez of San Jose; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Rosary Services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Robert Peccatiello as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following Serving as casket bearers: Gilbert Martinez, Jr., Richard Martinez, Greg Martinez, Marcus Montoya, Justin Martinez and Nathan Martinez.
