BIDDEFORD -Gertrude S. Boutet, 96, of Biddeford died on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, in Biddeford.
She was born on October 12, 1920, to Joseph A. and Olivine (Hebert) Gagne in Biddeford. She was educated in local schools.
On Nov. 11, 1939, she married George E. Boutet. The shared 42 loving years together until his death in 1981.
Gertrude started working at age 16 in the mills. She was a stitcher at Kesslen Shoes, Pepperell Mill, York Heel, Allied Saco Shoe and Herman Shoe. After working in the mills for 20 years, she then worked for the Biddeford School Lunch Program. She was there for 12 years before she retired in 2000.
She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella and St. Jean the Baptist. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles and cross-word puzzles.
She is preceded in death by: two daughters, Lorraine Boutet and Connie Ossman; two sisters, Alphonsine Gagne and Germaine Normand; and her brother, Robert Gagne.
Gertrude is survived by: a daughter, Simonne P. Rocray and her husband, Roger, of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Brenda, John and Pamela; five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Caroline, Tyler, Alex and Jonas; and a sister, Pauline Boutet of Biddeford.
Visiting hours will be 8:30-10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anne's Chapel of St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
