Gilbert "Gil" Gaskin MontgomeryJuly 12, 1932 - November 28, 2016VisaliaGilbert (Gil) Gaskin Montgomery was born on July 12, 1932 to Willie and Vernie Montgomery in Forrest City, Arkansas where the family owned a grocery store and restaurant. In 1936 the family relocated to California.Gil was a simple man with a heart of gold. Everyone who knew Gil loved him and could always count on him for a smile and a joke. Gil adored his family, he loved his animals, and he enjoyed being on the road. He spent most of his life as a Truck Driver navigating the highways and freeways across the nation. Later in life, he spent his free time transporting cars for Groppetti Automotive. Whether it be on a motorcycle, in a dealership car, or in an 18 wheeler, Gil loved to drive.Gil took his final trip in this life on November 28, 2016 when he went home to be with our Lord. He leaves behind a large family - a daughter, Marla Johnson & her husband Chris; a step son, Bobby Vaughn & his wife Felicia and a step daughter, Kami Vaughn. Gilbert also left behind 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his best friend Jim Guerra and his dogs Peaches & Duke along with a cat named Sugar. Gil is survived by his sister Jean (Billie) Line of Ivanhoe. Gil also had an older brother Mallory (Monty) Montgomery who passed away in 2010. All of whom loved him deeply. Services to celebrate his life will be held Thursday December 15, 2016, 3:00 PM at Encounter Road Church in Visalia, CA.
