It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gilberto Aviles, also known as "Gil" to his friends and family. Gil was born on April 20, 1938, in Coram, New York to his loving parents Jose and Maria Aviles. He passed away on November 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Gil was married to his beloved wife Teresa in 1956 and together they raised three wonderful children: France’s (Roger), Betty (Irving), and Lisa (Michael). He was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren.

Gil spent many years working at Mt Sinai hospital, where he dedicated himself to helping others. He retired in 1997 and spent his days indulging in his favorite hobbies of going fishing and listening to salsa music.

Despite his constant battle with Cancer of the stomach, Gil never lost his sense of humor and love for life. He will be remembered for his infectious laughter and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

While we mourn the loss of Gil, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents and watching over us from above. Rest in peace, Gil, you will be dearly missed.
