Gilman A. Fournier, 84, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Eugena (Lavertue) Fournier, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 20, 1932 in Van Buren, Maine, son of the late Eusebe and Alexina (Laplante) Fournier. He was married to the love of his life, Eugena Lavertue on March 21, 1953, and together they lived in East Hartford, before moving to South Windsor in 1992. Gilman served our country with the U.S. Army during the
Korean Conflict. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor. Gilman worked as a printing and supplies supervisor for Cigna, retiring in 1992 after 32 years of service. He was a hardworking, cheerful man who would help anyone in need. In his retirement, he drove and delivered handicap conversion vans with his son for Advanced Wheels. Gilman enjoyed eating out, dancing and most of all spending time with his family. He was a kind, caring and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Along with his wife of over 63 years, Eugena, he leaves his daughter, Debra M. Coiteux and her husband Robert of E. Hartford; his son, Timothy P. Fournier and his wife Laura of E. Hartford; his brother, Joseph Fournier of Fairfield, CA; his sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Cavalieri of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren, Nicole and Chris Coiteux and many brothers and sisters-in-law. His family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 2-5 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 7, 2016, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gaylord Hospital c/o Spinal Cord Association P.O.
