It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Nonna, Giuseppina Pucci, at the age of 100. Giuseppina passed away Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, peacefully at home with family by her side.
Giuseppina was born on December 14, 1923 in Brognaturo, Catanzaro, Italy. Giuseppina married her loving husband Bruno in 1950. In 1970, Giuseppina immigrated to Canada with her children to join her husband, who immigrated 5 years prior, in building a brighter future for their family.
Throughout her life, Giuseppina was dedicated to providing the best for her beloved family. As a nurturing matriarch, she exemplified resilience, strength, grace, and hope, becoming an inspiration to all those around her. She had a profound appreciation for life and found immense joy in celebrating and sharing her Italian heritage with her grandchildren. Our hearts are filled with warm memories of gathering every Sunday, preparing and sharing a meal. She loved bringing the family together, especially when it was time to make tomato sauce, sausages, bread, biscotti, and wine. Her passion for gardening and sharing the harvest with family, friends, and neighbours showcased her generous nature and deep sense of community. Giuseppina was devoted to her Catholic faith, finding solace and strength in her daily rosary and seeking comfort and guidance through her heartfelt prayers.
She will be greatly missed by her children Biagio (Assunta) Pucci, Nicola (Teresa) Pucci, Rosa Maselj, Elizabeth Calabrese, and Connie (Ernest) Richard; grandchildren Josie, Christina, Lia, Lisa, Samantha, Joshua, Michael, Victoria and Matthew; sister-in-law Maria Rosa Pucci, Teresa Tassone; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Giuseppina was predeceased by Bruno, her husband of 67 years; her son Antonio; parents Antonio and Maria-Teresa Tassone; in-laws Biagio and Rosa Pucci; son-in-law John Maselj; sisters Teresa (Bruno) Rosi and Rosa (Domenico) Garcea; brother Antonio Tassone; nephew Cosimo Garcea; brother-in-law Nicola Pucci; sisters-in-law Francesca (Bruno) Valente, Maria Rosa (Bruno) Mangiardi, and Santa (Domenico) Tassone.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Scali, Dr. Miller, and nurse Georgette Siciliano who provided care and comfort to Giuseppina.
