Hill, Gladys L.Gladys L. Hill, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by her family, after a very brief illness. Gladys was a lifelong resident of Big Flats where she was born on April 15, 1930 to Claude and Beatrice (Young) Markell. She married Raymond G. Hill on July 11, 1947 and they had five children, Dennis Hill of Big Flats, Robert (Ruth) Hill of Hornby, Marjorie Esposito of Elmira Heights, Brian (Cynthia) Hill of Big Flats, and Terry (Lisa) Hill of Elmira, five grandchildren, Nicole, Victoria, Austin, Jesse, and Beau, and one great granddaughter, Brittany. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1998 and her brother, Claude Markell.Gladys had a few jobs but devoted most of her life to being a homemaker, Thanks Mom. Her loves were her family, her home, cookbooks and cooking.Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Gladys' celebration of life service will follow there at 4:00 pm.
