Gladys Nadine McMurrayLakeside-Marblehead, Ohio: Gladys Nadine McMurray, 89, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Admiral's Point Nursing Center in Huron, Ohio. She was born on October 18, 1927 in Yokum Station, Virginia, the daughter of the late Newton Roscoe Holmes and Emma Lee (Necessary) Holmes-Fleenor. On December 18, 1948 she married George Andrew McMurray and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2004.Gladys enjoyed being a stay at home mom, raising her 10 children, and taking care of her family. In the summer time she could often be seen tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. With her freshly grown vegetables, she enjoyed canning and was a great cook. She also enjoyed quilting, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending precious time with her family.Survivors include her children: Virginia Lee (James) Reid, Port Clinton, George Allen (Donna) McMurray, Marblehead, Helen Jean (James) Davidson, Greenville, Ohio, Jack D. (Laura) McMurray, Port Clinton, Jewell M. Gardner, Temperance, Michigan, Carolyn Sue (Todd) Hepp, Marblehead, Phyllis Ann Albertson, Marblehead, Phillip Andrew (Tammy) McMurray, Port Clinton, Mary Lisa (Joseph) Biro, Marblehead; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Fleenor, Marblehead; brothers, U.C. "Tom" Holmes, Walter N. Holmes, Forester "Bunny" Fleenor, R.J. Fleenor, all of Marblehead. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George A. McMurray; son, Jerry Wayne McMurray; sister, Bobbie Henley; and brothers, Stanley Holmes and Jennings Fleenor.Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 3-5 and 6-8 pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. On Tuesday, August 8, 2017 additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 am until funeral services at 11 am with Pastor Alfred Havens officiating.
