Gladys Council Warren, age 77, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 20, 2017 from a relatively short battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Prior to her battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Gladys was a 16 year breast cancer survivor.Gladys was born on July 12, 1939 in Smyrna, DE, the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Kathleen Freeman Council.She worked at the Delaware Home & Hospital for the Chronically Ill for over 30 years in the Financial Resources Department, as well as volunteering in the gift shop after "retirement."She graduated from John Bassett Moore High School in 1957. She married Francis "Babe" Warren July 13, 1957. They moved from their farm in Chesapeake City, MD to Kenton, DE in 1965.She was a member of the Kenton United Methodist Church since 1965. She enjoyed her membership in the Kenton "Homemakers" Club as well as the Kenton United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Delmarva Emmaus Community. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Francis "Babe" Warren; her son, Robert Francis Warren; three brothers & sisters in law, Ernest F. Council Jr. (Ethel), George Council (Genevieve) and Clarence F. Council (Laura Mae); and two sisters, Belle McBrine & Florence Johnson. She is survived by a daughter, Sheryl "Sherry" Eierman and her husband Carl of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Janet Marie Warren of New Castle; her brother, Ronald Council (Irene) of Clayton; two grandchildren, William "Billy" Eierman of Middletown and Jodi Lynn Callahan (David) of Easton, MD; three great-grandchildren, Carlee Marie Eierman, Payton Nicole Eierman and Hoyt David Callahan; extended family, Kim Zinszer, Austin Zinszer, Madison Zinszer of Middletown; adopted in heart daughter, Faith Elliot Rossing (Pete) of Henderson, MD; several nieces, nephews; great nieces & nephews; great-great nieces & nephews; as well as many devoted friends. A viewing will be held from 6- 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24 at 11 a.m., with a viewing at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, Delaware.
