SchaafGlen Joseph Schaaf, 57, of Charlotte, NC, formerly Cincinnati and Avon Lake, Ohio died on Saturday, October 21st, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Olga Schaaf. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Betsy (James), loving children: Lauren and David of Charlotte, NC, dear sisters and sister-in-law: Janis (Jerry) Pfister, Nancy (Mark) Williams, and Bonnie James. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Caroline (Brian) Shields, Charlie Pfister, Robbie Pfister, Nicklaus James, Nicky James, as well as grand nieces and nephew: Nora, George and Samantha. He was born on April 3rd, 1960 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Glen's life was characterized by family, friendships and faith. He grew up playing baseball, swimming, delivering newspapers, camping, and earned the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout. He never lost his love for the Cleveland Indians and Browns.Glen followed the family tradition, attending The
Ohio State University, and graduating with a degree in business. In college he made many lifelong friends through the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He never missed an opportunity to cheer his beloved Buckeyes to victory. His friendships, both old and new, have continued with his participation in the Charlotte Buckeyes Alumni Club.Glen pursued his career after graduation in Cincinnati. He not only found a career, but the love of his life, Betsy. They were married October 26, 1985. They soon welcomed two beautiful children: Lauren, his 'sweet pea' and David, his golfing buddy. Nothing made Glen happier than spending time with his family.2005 brought a move to Charlotte, North Carolina. It was here that he pursued his involvement as a committee member of the Union County Young Life ministry since 2006. Glen played a major role helping to start and run the golf marathon fundraiser for the past three years. Sharing his passion for golf, Glen enjoyed volunteering as a coach to children through the First Tee of Charlotte. Glen was a member of Mercy Church in Matthews, NC and faithfully served on the seating team as an usher. Services will be held on Saturday October 28 at 10:00 at Southbrook Church (5607 Weddington Road, Weddington, NC).
