He grew up on the farm 13 miles South of Mt. Vernon that had been homesteaded by his grandfather, Henry Wieczorek. During his high school years he would pick up several of his classmates on the drive into Mt. Vernon with his Model A Ford. Because the school reimbursed him for gas, he was able to drive all four years practically free. However, he often had to rise early in the morning to repair tires. Following graduation from Mt. Vernon in 1945 he purchased an Indian Motorcycle and rode to New York City. It was his first memory of leaving the state. On March 10th, 1950 he married Helen Liddeke at the Nazarene Church in Mitchell. They raised five children together on their farm six miles south of Mt. Vernon. He was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church, Barbershop Chorus, and the Farm Bureau. He served on the district board of education, election board, and the soil district co-operative. In 1962 he was selected as the Outstanding Young Farmer in Davison County. Helen passed away in August 9, 1978.On February 4, 1987 Glen married Wanema Koeshall in Mitchell. They continued to farm until 1996 at which time they purchased a home in Mitchell and retired. Glen remained active in the Wesleyan Church and enjoyed singing with the Barbershop Chorus. In 2011, he moved into Firesteel Health Care Center. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 30 years, Wanema Wieczorek, Mitchell; sons: Rick (Vicky) Wieczorek, Sturgis, SD; Bradley Wieczorek, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters Glenda Wieczorek-Hohn, Mitchell; Janelle (Chuck) Herman, Mt.
