Ms. Glenda L. Owens passed away on Sept. 24, 2016, in Pasadena, Calif. She was born on Feb. 14, 1950, in New Orleans, La., to Louis Owens Sr. and Dorothy Mae Pointer. In 1960, Glenda, her brothers and her parents boarded a bus in New Orleans headed to Seattle, Wash. From Seattle they flew to Anchorage, Alaska. Glenda finished school in Anchorage, graduating from East High School. After high school she obtained various types of employment, primarily administrative until she found her passion in Real Estate in 1977. Her son, Damian, was born in Anchorage in 1969, and her daughter, Keisha, was born in Anchorage in 1975. While living in Anchorage she became a real estate agent and enjoyed her line of work; however, by 1981 Glenda had outgrown Alaska. So she moved with her children to Pasadena, Calif., where she lived the rest of her days. In Pasadena, during the late '80s, she became a real estate broker. She spent decades building her business and helping people into home ownership. She continued her education through the Pasadena City College and earned an Associates in Science Degree in December 2004. Ms. Glenda L. Owens is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Damian and Judith Owens; daughter, Keisha Owens; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Barbara Owens; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Geraldine Owens; grandchildren, Decora, Davante, Anthony, Ashley, Joey and Bryan; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones, too many to count. Her memorial service will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, on Nov. 12, 2016, at 12 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, located at 333 Price Street. In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Glenda's avid and unwavering dedication to basketball and sports in general, especially the Los Angeles Lakers, please donate to a youth basketball program within your community.
