Glenn Charles Swartz went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 2, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at the age of 84. He was born on November 7, 1933, in Madisonville, PA and lived most of his life in Metuchen, NJ with his wife of 64 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy Price Swartz, his three daughters and one son and their spouses: Katherine Kish and husband Stephen, Lori Milks and husband David, Amy Sorge and husband Peter, William Swartz and wife Joan and cherished grandchildren: Daniel, Olivia, William, Sophia and Aidan and great-granddaughter, Charlotte. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Boileau and predeceased by his parents Charles B. Swartz and Verna Mae Neville Swartz and his brother Lloyd Swartz, his sisters Louise Carmody, Marguerite Mclain, and Jean Mayer.
Glenn attended DeVry Institute and worked as a computer technician for IBM and Bell Atlantic. He attended First Baptist Church of Metuchen for nearly 60 years and served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Boys Brigade leader and in the church office.
Glenn loved life, enjoyed baseball, golf, reading his Bible and teaching, working on his computer, going to Kiawah Island with the family and going to Pennsylvania and Ocean Grove with Nancy. He was also known for his kindness, generosity and positive attitude toward life. He was a very involved grandfather who attended countless baseball games, dance recitals, plays, and track meets. His grandchildren especially feel the loss of this wonderful man.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, April 7, 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Metuchen, 225 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen, NJ 08840. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Metuchen Missions in memory of Glenn Swartz.
