Glenn R. WhorlGlen RockGlenn R. Whorl, 91, died on Tuesday January 26, 2016 at his home. He was the husband to the late Treva A. (Bailey) Whorl. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday January 30, 2016 at Glenview Alliance Church, 10037 Susquehanna Trail South, Glen Rock, with Pastor Larry Parlett officiating. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenview Alliance Church. Private Burial will be in Mt. Zion Potosi Church Cemetery. Mr. Whorl was born on November 25, 1924 in North York and was the son of the late Oscar V. and Anna E. (Brown) Whorl. He graduated from North York High School in 1942 where he played soccer and baseball.He then was a U.S.
Army Air Corps Veteran of
World War II, serving with the 789th Bomb Squadron as a Corporal. Glenn was a business office equipment serviceman for various companies in the York Area for all of his life. He was a member of Mt. Zion "Potosi" United Methodist Church, Glen Rock, where he was Superintendent and taught Sunday School for a total of 57 years and served with the Helping Hands Ministries of the Church. He also served as a missionary for two years for SEND International in Alaska. He leaves two daughters, Margaret A. "Peggy" Spiese and her husband, Stephen of Columbia, and Kathy S. Walker and her husband, Russ of Glen Rock; two sons, Richard L. Whorl and his wife, Rev. Suanne Whorl of Harrisburg, and Timothy B. Whorl and his fiancée, Susan T. Pavarnick of Glen Rock; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Jack Whorl of Delray Beach Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Mt.
