Mr. Glenn Wood of Creston died on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at his residence. He was 83.
Mr. Wood was born on Jan. 25, 1930, in Ashe County to George and Flossie Ham Wood.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George Wood Jr., Bruce Wood, Bob Wood, Todd Wood; one sister, Marie Mahaffey; one son Tom Wood; and his wife, Pearl Wood.
Mr. Wood owned and operated Wood Cable Vision for 15 years. He enjoyed farming, sawmilling and bee keeping. Mr. Wood was a gifted musician playing the guitar, banjo and at one time he and his sisters had a radio program. Glenn was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wood is survived by his son, Jerry Wood and wife Betty of Creston; daughter, Sherry Lambert and husband Jeff of Creston; daughter-in-law, Debbie Wood of Warrensville; a special caregiver and family friend, Mary Treadway; five grandchildren, Rachel Clark and husband Tim, Ryan Wood and wife Jennifer, Justin Wood and wife Monica, Jessica Goodman and husband Billy, and Caroline Pearl Hamm; 10 great grandchildren, Laney Clark, Will Clark, Mackenzie Wood, Gwyneth Wood, Caitlin Wood, Elizabeth Goodman, Kelsie Goodman, Adam Goodman, Molly Goodman and Daniel Ryan Wood; two brothers, Marshall Wood of Rising Sun, Md., and Jones Wood of Elkton, Md.; one sister, Eula Mae McCoy of Galax, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Rickey Mitchell and Rev. Denton Hart. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
