Gloria Tyson, was born to the late Dorothy Williams and Samuel Burger on August 24, 1942. She Departed from this life on October 2, 2021.
Gloria was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She became a member of Sharp Street Memorial United Methodist Church along with other members of her family.
Gloria married James Tyson(deceased) on June 23,1968 and from the union came one son, James Tyson, jr., eight daughters, Gloria j. Dowd, Bernice Tyson, Doris smith, Sharon James, Adrienne Washington, Althea Tyson and Paula Lacks, Latanya Scarborough.
During her life she worked as a nursing assistance at North Charles General and at Sinai hospital for 25 years where she retired. She enjoyed taking care of the sick wether they were adults, her children or other people's children, she did it all. Gloria had so many of her children's friends in her home, and she fed them all. She loved arts and crafts, puzzles and most of all playing games with the family, don't expect to win a game of jacks or beat her at eating crabs.
Gloria spent her last years at Genesis homewood and she looked forward to Sunday services with Huber memorial, and activities in the dinning room with other residents. Gloria enjoyed the Senior Prom that was held every September. It was an occasion where all of the residents dressed in their finest. She was very happy when she was crowned prom Queen in 2007.
She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learn in a lifetime.
Everyone always knew where you stood with her.She liked you or she didn't, it was black or white. As her children we are still trying to figure out which one it was with us ( we know she loved us).
She was a master cook in the kitchen. She believed in putting your foot in everything you make. She loved cooking so much she started a catering business for weddings, birthdays, and parties. She was an amazing women who taught all her kids the true meaning to the way of your mans heart.

Preceding her death was her husband ,sister Mrs.Bernice Dutton, mother Dorthy Williams, stepfather Frank Williams, grandmother Lucy Mays, mother-in-law Evelyn Tyson and her grandson, Dana Clark.
All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacit, wit, charm, grace(when pertinen) and undying love and caring for them.
