Golda Jacqueline Ellis of Ellijay, Georgia passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born on October 29, 1938 to George Harrison Turley and Golda Ida Rutherford in Bristol, Tennessee. Golda was 1 of 6 children and is survived by her siblings Sue, Robert, Phyllis, Donald and Patricia and also had 10 Nieces and Nephews, and 7 great-Nieces and nephews.
Golda was married to her beloved husband David Ellis who passed just 3 months before her, for 40 years and she raised and is survived by two wonderful children, Monte Wood and Cherry Charles. She was also the proudest grandmother to her four grandchildren, Tyler Wood, Kelley Casey, Spencer Wood and Haley Al-Mashahdani and 10 great grandchildren Jocelyn, Parker, Colin, Finnegan, Lily, Tobin, Maclin, Aminah, Sophia, and Breccan.
Golda served in the Army as a PVT in her early years and later had a passion for gardening, keeping the most beautiful flowers and elephant ears, She loved taking adventures with family and friends, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending quality time with loved ones chatting and bringing out the best in those around her. She also had a love for reading, collecting elephants, teacups, and teapots to which it would take hours to admire them all.
Golda will be remembered for her warm smile, silly laughter, kindest heart, and adventurous spirit. Golda could light up any room with just a smile and her laugh, She was a one of a kind mother, sister, wife, and grandmother who could never be replaced and there will forever be a hole in our family where she once shined. To have met her is to have loved her and know how she's impacted lives to the fullest by just being herself. She will be forever deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Rest in peace, Golda Ellis.
