Gordon E. Heyer 1923—2016Gordon E. Heyer, 92, of Stockton, IL passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Gordon was born on October 2, 1923 in Lafayette County, WI to Ralph and Lily (Gillette) Heyer. He married Janice Coomber on February 6, 1946 at the Warren United Methodist Church in Warren, IL. Gordon was a lifelong farmer in the Warren and Stockton areas. He was a member of the Stockton Wesley United Methodist Church. Gordon enjoyed square dancing with his wife, playing cards, fishing, farming and tractors. He had a great sense of humor, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and friends. Gordon is survived by his wife Janice of Elizabeth; children Lori (Tom) Corbari of Stoughton, WI, Todd (Tammy) Heyer of Stockton, IL; grandchildren Danny (Tabitha) Majors, Aaron (Sara) Majors, Dustin Heyer, Jackie (Dan) Heyer, Brian Day, Heather Hammer, Crystal Heyer; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous step grand and great-grandchildren; sister Patrica (Dave) Thill of Freeport IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister June Mahon.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Stockton Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton, IL, with a luncheon to follow at the church. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. Pastor Brenda Morris will officiate the services. Burial will be at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
