Gordon Fenton MorganDecember 16, 1935 - September 10, 2016Gordon Fenton Morgan, age 80, of Pocatello passed away on September 10, 2016 at his home due to natural causes. He was born on December 16, 1935 in Malad City, Idaho to Fenton and Irene Morgan. He lived in Rock Springs, WY until his family moved to Pocatello. He attended Pocatello High School and then joined the Air Force where he served in various locations in Asia and Europe during the Korean War. After completing military service, Gordon attended Idaho State University and earned a B.A. in History. He attended Penn State University for graduate studies and returned to Pocatello in 1964 when he began his teaching career at ISU followed by positions in the Pocatello School District. Gordon derived great satisfaction from working with his hands and left teaching for carpentry where he spent the majority of his working years. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping, whitewater rafting and cross country skiing. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved getting together with friends around a campfire or at home to spin a yarn or debate politics. In later years, he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow. Gordon is preceded in death by Carol, his beloved wife of 50 years, his sister Lois Lords, brothers Bobby, Richard and Mark Morgan and parents Fenton Davis Morgan and Irene Bigler Morgan. He is survived by his children Kellie (Pocatello), Chris (Wendy; Pocatello) and Amy (Newman Yeilding; Philadelphia, PA) and grandchildren Samantha Morgan and Aidan and Newman Yeilding. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Gordon's name may be made to the Idaho Food Bank.
