Gordon M. Allen95, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 7, 2017 while a resident of The Forum at The Crossing, Indianapolis where he made many close friends among the residents and staff. Gordon was born on December 10, 1921 at Wallace, IN. the son of Frank F. and Sarah (nee: Foster) Allen. He then graduated from Crawfordsville High School and received his BA in Business from
Indiana University, Bloomington in just three years before joining the US
Army and serving in the Army Air Force in
WWII. During his military service he survived when his plane was shot down over Germany and he was held as a POW for thirteen months. Gordon married Betty Jean Cox on January 24, 1944 and they raised two sons and lived in Indianapolis for many years. Gordon worked as a self employed Certified Public Accountant and was very active in his community as a 50 + year member of the Masonic Lodge #319, Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine and the Eastern star. He was also a longtime member of the Northside Optimist Club where he served as an officer.Gordon is survived by his sons: Stephen (wife- Marilyn) Allen of Liberty IN and Warren Allen of Indianapolis, IN. He joins his parents, brother -Donald Allen and his wife Betty Allen in heaven. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday November 11 th at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown, In. and officiated by Rev. Kevin Howey. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the services, burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Shriners Childrens Hosptial burn care, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 or the Folds of Honor Foundation, 8551 N. 125th E.
