Grace A. NiemczykBorn: October 30, 1918 Died: November 5, 2016 Grace A. Niemczyk, 98, of Sycamore, IL died on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at her daughter's home, surrounded by family. She was born on October 30, 1918 in Cortland Township, IL to Oscar and Anna (Peterson) Swanson. Grace attended Lovells Crossing schools. She was married to Edward "Bud" Niemczyk on December 16, 1944 in Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, IL. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1998 in DeKalb, IL. Grace worked at the Sycamore school district cafeteria as a cook and at NB&T. Grace was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was involved on the dolls committee, altar guild, and circles. She loved to cook and bake. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, and many other favorites like her egg coffee. In addition to her joy of cooking, she enjoyed painting and sewing. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Grace is survived by her children, Irene (Ray) Den Besten of Bloomington, IL, Ken (Terry) Niemczyk of Springfield, IL, and Donna (Jeff) Wallace of Sycamore, IL; grandchildren, Marc Niemczyk, Dee (Eric) Arnold, Carol (Walter) Yee, Cathy Den Besten, Jon (Hatigje) Wallace, Melissa (Brian Galto) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Samuel Yee, Corinne and Norah Miller, Jacob and Abigail Arnold, Brody and Kamryn Wallace, Ava Haptonstall, Jaden and Kylie Cochran; brother, Clarence Swanson of Belvidere, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years; her parents; two sisters, Ruth Garman and Pearl Hetland; and one brother, Russell Swanson.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL. There will be a visitation prior to the service, at the church, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.
