She had resided at Prestwick Village Assisted Living for the past 10 years. She died peacefully at Prestwick, surrounded by her children, sister and brothers as well as several caregivers.
Mrs. Ivey was born on Dec. 10, 1924 in Hoke County to the late C.D. Bounds, Sr. and Lellon Culbreth Bounds. She was the wife to the late H. Kelly Ivey, Jr., who died in 2003. She lived in Laurinburg most of her life and was a retiree of Southern Bell Telephone, where she retired in 1980 after 30 years of service.
Mrs. Ivey had two daughters: Jane Ivey Adams of Whispering Pines and Judy Ivey Mintz of Laurel Hill, as well as four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Gertrude Hearn of Laurinburg and two brothers: C.D. Bounds, Jr., of Wagram and Charles Bounds of Laurinburg. She was predeceased by her brother Bobby Bounds of Wagram.
A visitation will be held at Richard Boles Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Snead's Grove United Methodist Church, where she served as a longtime member. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park.
