Grace MeyerGrace Meyer, 88, died peacefully while sleeping on Thursday, April 3, 2014.Grace was born on May 31, 1925 at the family homestead in Marshall County, South Dakota, to Edward and Inga Aas. She attended grade school in rural schools and graduated from Sisseton High School in Sisseton, South Dakota, in 1943. She attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and taught in rural schools in Roberts County, South Dakota, for 6 years. She then attended Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, Oregon, and taught in a rural school near Molalla, Oregon, for one year.She moved back to Sisseton, South Dakota, where she met Elroy Meyer. They were married on June 6, 1949.In 1963 the family moved to Ellensburg, Washington, where Grace was a homemaker and took in ironing for several customers until her retirement.Grace and Elroy were married for 62 years until Elroy's death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and five brothers. She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie Carpenter (Jack) of Ellensburg, Susan Evans (Jeff) of Friday Harbor, WA, and Donna Meyer of Ellensburg; 5 granddaughters, Chelsea Jamerson (Jeremy), Heidi Evans, Lindsey Allred (Cody), Leah Evans, and Sarah Griffin; three great grandchildren, Madilynn and Tyler Jamerson, and Libby Allred; one sister, Ella Hustel of Aberdeen, South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service and reception will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ellensburg, WA.Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice Friends, 401 E. Mt. View Ave., Ellensburg, WA 98926. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory in Ellensburg, Washington.
