LAGRANGE — Grace M. Nelson, 94, of LaGrange died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Life Care Center of LaGrange. Mrs. Nelson had lived in LaGrange County most of her life. She was the receptionist for many years at A.B. Nelson Dentistry in LaGrange. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange and the Mu Chapter of Tri-Kappa. She was born on May 25, 1919, in Elkhart County to Elmer F. and Lydia Ann (Hooley) Murray. She married A.B. "Burl" Nelson, DDS, on Nov. 28, 1940, in New York. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2014. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Thomas Helmkamp of LaGrange; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Craig and Linda Nelson of Fort Wayne and Roger and Leslie Nelson of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Blanche Hartzler of Goshen, Doris Klinglesmith of Goshen, and Shirley and Floyd Miller of Corfu, NY; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Rev. John and Marilyn Murray of Heston, Kan., and Paul Murray of Alexander, N.Y. Also preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Joella Troyer, Gladys Peebles, Ruth Mawhinney and Orpha Miller; and four brothers, Gerald, Elmer Jr., Franklin and Joseph Murray. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 209 W. Spring St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Chris Danielson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, LaGrange.
