Grant B. HillNaples, FLGrant B. Hill the son of Marcelle and Grant L. Hill was born on January 11, 1925 in New York and raised in Milwaukee, WI. He passed on September 13, 2017 after 26 years living in Naples, FL with the love of his life, Donna. He was a pilot and expert skier both on snow and water. His joy was hunting birds with Donna and their dogs in Berkshire Hills, NY and Maryland. He give of himself volunteering in the hospital, 20 years with hospice and giving blood. At age 18 he entered the Army and spent a year in CO with the Mountain troops, he was multilingual and was selected to join OSS, Special Forces. He trained in Washington, DC and N. Africa. In France he and 20 men dropped behind enemy lines, blew bridges, created many ambushes to capture the 2nd largest hydroelectric plant in Europe that controlled the power for our troops in North France. For 13 days he drove a truck over the Burma Road. In China with Chinese commands he dropped in Japanese controlled areas and fought their troops traveling rovers to reinforce the coastline should the Atom Bombs failed in causing their defeat. In addition to US Medals he received the French Legion of Honor.Grant was a graduate of John Hopkins University and a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. A dedicated person in helping others he was a district agent with the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.A joy of Grant's marriage was being part of raising Donna's six Children; Dr. Darcy Andersen(Vincent), Grant Andersen, and son Andrew, Wendy McGhee(Doc), Brad Andersen and Grant's adopted daughters Holly Coleman(Chris) and children Cooper and Ave Mae, and Dr. Heidi Green(Bob) and children Haylee and Ryder.Grant a 20 year volunteer at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice in his memory.Arrangements entrusted to National Cremation and Burial Society
