This obituary is administered by:

Loving Father, Brother, Grandfather, Educator and Friend

Granville Lynn Low, 77, of San Antonio, Texas, was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 27, 2020.

Lynn, as he was known by all of his family and friends, graduated from Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Tx .He earned his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Texas Tech University in 1965 and then embarked on a very decorated career as an honored and highly respected high school band director in the State of Texas. He began his career in Crosbyton before moving to Cisco. After 8 years of teaching, he decided to take a break and moved his family to Midland to pursue a different call. However, band directing was his true calling so he accepted the Head Band Director position in Mexia, Tx the following year, where his band finished first runner up for the State Honor Band in his second year. After 3 years in Mexia, Lynn moved his family to Waco where he was the band director at Richfield High School and Waco High School for a combined 10 years. During this time, he pursued and obtained his Master of Science in Education from Baylor University. He then moved to San Antonio East Central High School for his final teaching stop before retiring to become a Music Festival consultant. He was a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and held many positions with the organization throughout his prestigious years of teaching.

Lynn loved vocal music and held church music director positions in Cisco, Midland and Mexia.  He loved to sing with his father, mother and sisters.  He also enjoyed singing with his sons on Sunday evenings. He had a real passion for Gospel music with rich harmonies.

Lynn strived to always show his undivided attention and genuine respect to all his students, colleagues, and everyone he came into contact with.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Lynn will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Backyard Waco, 511 South 8th Street Waco, Tx starting at 9:30am.

Lynn wasn’t a fan of traditional funeral services, so the family is honoring his wishes by organizing this gathering . This will be a fun, inspiring, and emotionally touching  tribute that will honor the man that his Lord and Savior called son, his parents called their only son, his sisters called their brother, his children called Dad and that many, many more called friend! The celebration is sure to carry a tune! A private family Celebration Service will be held at a later date.

Lynn is survived by his 3 adult children: son Gary and his wife Shari of Conroe, Tx, son Chris and his wife Jackie of Waco, Tx, and daughter Tracy from San Antonio, Tx. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren: Megan, Andrew, Jordin, Devyn, Brinley and Merrin, and one great-granddaughter Scarlett.  He is also survived by his two sisters, Sherry Field of Corpus Christi, Tx, and Sandy Field and her husband Larry from Houston, Tx. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
