Greg Gibbens, 63, of Juneau, Alaska, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Bartlett Regional Hospital from natural causes. Gregory Keith Gibbens was born on May 25, 1948 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Dick and Nellie Gibbens. He received a Master's Degree in Counseling at the University of North Dakota and a Masters Degree in Social Work, from Portland State University. Greg came to Juneau on Alaska Day in 1980. From that time forward he proceeded to engage in his career as a counselor/therapist in Juneau, at one time working for CBJ Mental Health and then in his own private practice until his retirement. Greg touched the lives of many in Juneau and will always be remembered for his kind, gentle spirit and his sincere interest in the welfare of others. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Nellie (Robertson) Gibbens. He is survived by his wife and soul-mate Joanne Gibbens of Juneau, his brother Dick Gibbens of Cando, ND, his brother Brad Gibbens of Grand Forks, ND and many extended family members.Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Cando, North Dakota.
