Greg Jay
SmithGreg Jay Smith passed away on September 16, 2017 in Lebanon, IN. He was born on February 22, 1945 in Chicago Heights, IL. He grew up there, and later in New Castle, IN where he attended St. Anne Catholic School and graduated from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School in 1963. He married Susan Lynne Hunnicutt in 1964. They were divorced in 1972. He attended Indiana University and Purdue University. He resided in the Lafayette, IN area for a time and was a journeyman electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #668. He lived his later life in southern Indiana in the Huron and Paoli areas, and in Mitchell, IN.Greg was preceded in death by his parents Jay Wallace Smith and Ruth Cull Smith. He is survived by son Paul Frank Smith (Robyn) of Lafayette, IN and grandchildren Matthew Smith (Brittany), Daniel Smith (Emily), Angela Smith Mishler (Luke), Elizabeth Smith, Lila Smith, and Joshua Smith; son Aaron Michael Smith (Theresa) of Tucson, AZ and granddaughter Heather Smith; sisters Pamela Ann Smith (Morce Ambler) of London, England, Linda (Lyn) Jann Smith Deardorff (Tom) of Atlanta, GA, Judy McCabe Smith (Bill Gornto) of Atlanta, GA, and Teresa Marie Smith of West Lafayette, IN; and brothers Stephen Randolph (Randy) Smith (Kay Overman) of Sacramento, CA, Jeremy Jon Smith (Peggy) of Elgin, IL, Christopher Jay Smith (Diana) of Wendell, MA, and Joel Patrick Smith (Julie Maranto) of Brunswick, ME, and also 14 nieces and nephews. His body has been donated to the Indiana University School of Medicine to benefit medical education and research. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
