Gregory J. KempMansfield: Gregory J. Kemp passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a brief battle with cancer. A lifelong Mansfield resident, Greg was born on June 29,1945, to the late Joseph and Lillian (Scott) Kemp. Greg is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Barton) Kemp, their four children, Michelle Olecki (Brad Ingram) of Lexington, Greg (Cathy) Kemp of Florida, Chris (Julie) Kemp of Worthington, and, Melissa Kemp Barnhart (Robert Schuerger) of Powell; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Annie Olecki; Loran and Shelby Kemp; Emma and Elliot Kemp; and, Lilly Schuerger; a great grandson Alexander; two brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.A graduate of Mansfield St. Peter's High School and North Central Technical College, Greg worked for the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company for 14 years and the
General Motors Company for 28 years until his retirement from the Tool and Die Department. Following his retirement, Greg enjoyed travelling and especially loved Caribbean cruises. Throughout his life, Greg was an accomplished outdoorsman and relished spending weekends on his boat in Sandusky and fishing on Lake Erie. Greg always looked forward to his annual deer hunting trips with long-time friend and co-worker, Ronald Lewis. Greg also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, and appreciated the many years he spent serving as an umpire for the Southwest Little League program. Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Ave. West, Mansfield, Ohio on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Austin Ammanniti officiating.
