Butler, Gretchen Our little "Gretchie" passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016. She was born on July 28, 1957 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Carol Butler. Born with the gift of gab, she was known for her outgoing personality. Gretchen never met a stranger. Her wonderful, loud laugh would light up a room and everyone in it. She thoroughly enjoyed being with her family and friends and was always available for either a good laugh or a good cry no matter what the occasion (she would cry reading greeting cards at the store). Whatever hat she was wearing (wife, stepmom, grandma, sister, brother, aunt or great-aunt), she wore that hat proudly with all the love and devotion that any one person could have or give. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Chris and Carolyn. She leaves behind her loving husband, Lin Meis; stepdaughters, Jennifer Runyan (Steve), Betsy Veach (Duane); three grandchildren, Dalton, Emily and Lauren; brothers, Patrick Butler (Beryl Silkey), Tony Butler (Joann) and Mark Butler (Theresa), all of Wichita; sisters, Becky Butler of Gaithersburg, MD, Ann Butler of Wichita and Margo Ramsey (Chuck) of Stilwell. She is also survived by her nieces, Alia Kottas (Brad), Dawn Bircher (Jason), Alexandra Ramsey (Russell), Gabrielle DeMay (Tyler), Mary Carol Greene (Patrick), Molly Smortwood (Jeff), Caroline Moody, Rachel Butler (Buck), Sarah Butler and Elizabeth Kent (Alex); nephews, Dustin Baker, Andrew Baker, Jacob Moody, Benjamin Butler, Christopher Butler (Holly), Ian Finzoll, Robert Butler and Chase Butler; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and the most spoiled dog in the world, Daisy. She leaves many, many relatives, friends, and co-workers whom she cherished and enjoyed throughout her personal and business life. She will be terribly missed, but, in the end, she did finally win the Red Rover game that is played in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her name to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi, 929 North St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67214. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, and the Funeral Mass, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 132 S. Millwood in Wichita. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Online condolences may be offered online at
