Guadalupe Sanchez de Quintanilla, 73, of Las Palmas, Texas, passed unexpectedly in her sleep on October 16, 2023. Guadalupe was born on January 30, 1950. Her family migrated from the Mexican State of Nuevo Leon in 1952. From a young age family was always her priority, starting at the age of seven she worked as a seamstress alongside her mother Maria Dolores Ochoa de Sanchez to help ends make meet. She became an accomplished seamstress eventually owning her own shop with a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and remarkable attention to detail. She promised every customer a perfect fit every time. In 1973 she met Martin Castillo-Quintanilla at a church barbeque and three years later welcomed their first son Marco Quintanilla into the world. Two years later she would be mother to twin girls Maritza and Eugenia.
Guadalupe was a woman of great faith. She always had a rosary in her pocket and never missed a Sunday service. She always said the world would be a better place if everybody took care of each other, and this was a philosophy she lived by. When she wasn't caring for her family or working she delivered home-cooked meals to homeless shelters and even made blankets in her spare time to donate to the needy. She loved to cook and regularly hosted huge gatherings of family and friends all gathered over a pot of her amazing pozole. She was the matriarch of her family for many years and proudly so.
Guadalupe will be forever missed. She lives on in the hearts of her children, Marco Quintanilla, Maritza Donnely, and Eugenia Reyes, as well as her grandchildren, Emily Donnely, Sarah Donnely, Martin Donnelly, Gregory Quintanilla, Vita Quintanilla, and Romeo Reyes. She joins her husband, Martin, he mother Maria, her father Luis, and her brother Antonio. Services will be held on October 19 2023 at San Ignacio Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Samaritan's Purse International in her name.
