Gunnery Sergeant Scott Anthony Storms, 33, passed away peacefully at his home in Yuma on Monday, September 7, 2009. He was born on September 29, 1975 in San Diego, California. Scott proudly served as a United States Marine for fourteen years. He was stationed at 29 Palms, California, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Bellingham, Washington, and served one combat tour in Iraq. Scott was well known for his leadership ability, passion for the Marine Corps, selfless concern for others, quick wit, and an incredible sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed water skiing, hunting and fishing. Scott lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. Scott is survived by his wife, Marie at the family home in Yuma; sons, Brox, Blake, and Mathew; mother and step-father, Barbara and Jimmy Minton of Yuma; father and step-mother, Michael and Jae Storms of College Station, Texas; sister's, Rebecca (Neil) Wimmer, Michelle (Minton) Thurman, twin sister, Jennifer Marconato and Amanda Minton; brother, Andrew Minton; nephews, Kyle and Kody Botts, Zach Thurman and Dustin Marconato. Memorial services with full military honors will be held at the Marine Corps Air Station Chapel, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions, in memory of Scott to the National Brain Tumor Society.
