Leventakos, GusAugust A. (Gus) Leventakos, 91, formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2016. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary S. Leventakos and was born on December 17, 1924 in New Haven, CT. Mr. Leventakos spent his childhood in Greece and returned to the United States after World War II. He was the proprietor of the Boston Candy & Grocery for many years. Mr. Leventakos was also employed by SNET where he retired from in 1989. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the parish council and a member of AHEPA, as well. Mr. Leventakos is survived by a son, Anthony Leventakos and his wife Emmy of Fairfield and a daughter, Magdalene Rountos and her husband James of Bethel. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Anthony Leventakos, Michael and Krisanne Leventakos, Susan and John Weiss, Steven and Shannon Rountos and Maria and Kyle Rodgers as well as 5 great grandchildren.The Rite of Burial will take place on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10 am in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave, Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10 am in church prior to funeral. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604 would be greatly appreciated.
