Gustav Jerome "Gust" LaumbJune 28, 1927 - June 27, 2016Gustav "Gust" Jerome Laumb, 88, of Nampa, died Monday, June 27, 2016 at a Nampa hospital. He was born on June 28, 1927 in Berthol, North Dakota to Joseph and Marie Laumb. As a young boy the family moved to Nampa where he was raised and educated. Gust helped his Dad deliver hay who had a hay and grain business. Later, Gust worked for Pacific Railroad painting bridges.He met and married Norma Jean Kentner on April 6, 1959 in Winnemucca, NV. To this marriage they had one boy and three girls.Gust worked at Armour's Meat Packing from 1962 until December of 1983 when he retired after Armour's had closed. He drove beet truck for a while after that.He loved taking his children and grandchildren camping and fishing.Gust is survived by his wife, Norma of Nampa; a son, Rickey Laumb of Portland, OR; Three daughters, JoAnne (Mike) Thiel of Kuna, ID, Shelli Spitznogle of Caldwell, ID and Trudy Scherf of Nampa, ID; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a very special cousin, Robert (Anna Mae) Laumb of Tolley, ND; a special sister in law, Joan Laumb of Berthol, ND; a special niece, Connie (David) Taylor of Eufaula, AL; a several other nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marlin Laumb; four sisters, Marion Scott, Alice George, Helen Ayers and Shirley Geissler; and a grandson, Scotty Laumb.At his request there will be no services.
