Dr. Guy William HederSt. GeorgeDr. Guy William Heder, 93, passed away at home in St. George, UT on January 19, 2017. Dr. Heder was born on January 1, 1924 in Monterey Park, CA to John Earl and Alta Richardson Heder. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1942 and enlisted in the
US Navy during
World War II to serve in the Pacific. After the war, he attended Los Angeles Junior College and the University of California in Los Angeles and graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in 1956.Dr. Heder practiced medicine for 50 year in Arcadia and Glendora, CA; on Molokai and Kahuku, Oahu, HI, in Portland, AR, and in Sequim, WA. He spent 25 years in Hawaii.Dr. Heder was not only a physician but also a master builder, sailor and pilot. He was a generous and loving individual, full of charity. He was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints, having served as Bishop and as Branch President.He is survived by his wife, Beverly Gay Tano of St. George, UT; children, James of Salem, OR, Kathryn Packer of Farmington, UT, Craig of Baldwin Park, CA, Don of Kahuku, HI, Jerry of Parker, AZ, Carma Hurwitz of Haleiwa, HI, Brad of Hauula, HI, Keala Sikahema of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Alicia Huber of Mesa, AZ, Sydney-Lyn Tea of St. George, UT, Renee-Elizabeth Condie of Lehi, UT, Barbara-Alice Kellar of Cabot, AR; brother, Walt of Kaysville, UT; and sister, Nita Jensen of Toquerville, UT. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Earl and Alta Richardson Heder; siblings, Gladys Biggs, Maurine Isham, Lloyd, Verona, Hamilton, and Karl; his former spouses, Joyce Knudsen and Dorothy Koolau; and daughter, Wanda Donnell.Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hidden Valley Ward Chapel, 675 E. Desert Hills Dr., St. George, UT. There will be a viewing Friday, January 27 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff, St. George and prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel.
