Guy Neil BryanVentura, CAGuy Neil Bryan, 66, died July 12, 2017, in Ventura following a four-month battle with brain cancer. Guy was born on Aug. 14, 1950, on his mother's birthday, in Reedley, CA. He was the youngest of six children of Dee Die Mae Bryan and Elmer Leo Bryan. Guy grew up in Calexico, CA, and graduated from Calexico Union High School in 1968. He received his Associate in Arts degree from Oxnard College in Ornamental Horticulture.Guy also served six years in the
US Marine Corps (1969-1975). Guy and Irene Osuna married in 1969 and had a son, Jason, who lives with his family in Santa Paula. Guy and Irene were married three years. Guy and Carole Olsen met while both were working at Green Thumb Nursery in Ventura, where Guy was a Certified Nurseryman. They were married on June 28, 1980, at the Camarillo United Methodist Church. Guy and Carole were married 37 years. Guy later worked 30 years as a Groundsman at Oxnard College, retiring in 2014. He was a highly-respected member of the staff. Guy held a number of specialized certificates in horticulture. His interests included nature photography, genealogy, Japanese history, hiking, yoga, and nutrition. Guy is survived by his wife, Carole; a son, Jason and his wife, Holly, of Santa Paula; two brothers, Colin of Oxnard and Gary of Saticoy; and three grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 23, at 3 p.m. at the Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Dr. in Camarillo. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the and/or the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association. Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society.
