Gwendolyn Margaret PillerFebruary 22, 1928 – December 11, 2016It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwen Piller on Sunday December 11, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Gwen was born on February 22, 1928 in Kincaid, Saskatchewan to Alice and Josiah Buswell. In July 1948, Gwen married Gordon Piller. They lived on the Piller family farm in Grenfell, Saskatchewan for seven years, where their children Wayne and Karen were born. In 1955, they moved to Bralorne, British Columbia where their third child Craig was born. In August of 1960, Gwen and her family moved to the Hainstock district where Gwen taught Grades 3 and 4 at the Hainstock School until the school closed in 1969. Gwen went on to teach grade 2 at Olds Elementary School until her retirement. Family was always important to Gwen and she enjoyed watching her family play slow-pitch softball, family dinners and vacationing at the cabin at Crooked Lake, Saskatchewan. Gwen will be lovingly remembered for all her amazing home cooked meals, delicious baked goods and how important family was in her life. She was always surrounded and loved by her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gwen will be forever missed by her son Wayne (Dianne) Piller, daughter Karen (Terry) Clague and son Craig (Lorraine) Piller; her beloved grandchildren Danielle (Jeff) Latimer, Jennifer (Blake) Machan, Matthew (Marti) Piller, Kelly (Jeremy) Holmes, Lindsay Clague (Raymond Naidu), Jaime (Pam) Clague, Ashley and Corey Piller; great-grandchildren Alix, Mya and Gordon Latimer, Megan and Hailey Machan, Ole, Camdyn and Thomas Piller, Hayden Holmes, Makenna Clague, Avaia Clague. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Gordon Piller; parents Alice and Josiah Buswell and sister Thelma Hicock. Funeral services were held on Friday December 16, 2016 at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, Olds. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Asthma Society of Canada.
