LAURINBURG — H. Jack Rushin, 92, passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2016 at his residence at Scotia Village.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He Is survived by his son Jack Rushin, Jr. (Janice) of Charlotte, three grandchildren: Jade (Bart) Hagen, Andrew (Kristen) Rushin, and Emily (Ken) Vawter, four great-grandchildren: Timothy, Micah, Joshua, and Elijah, and special friend Barbara Haney. He was preceded in death by his wife Tinky in 1993.

Jack was born on Aug. 18, 1923 on the family farm in Hoke County, or just across the Lumbee from Cypress Bend Vineyards. He worked with the McNairs for 34 years and in the 1960s opened Laurinburg's first convenience store, The Kwik Stop, across from the Honey Cone on South Main.

He also operated three laundromats in the area and opened Village Cleaners in the late 1970s.

He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church for 70 years. An active member of the Laurinburg Kiwanis Club, he was always their largest seller of tickets for their fund raising pancake supper and breakfast.

He lived a full life of love, humor, faithfulness, integrity and generosity. He will be missed.
