We gather here today to honor and remember the extraordinary life of Hakim Hankerson, a beloved individual whose presence illuminated the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him. Born on February 1, 1968, in the serene town of Montgomery Fort, Kentucky, Hakim lived a life full of passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Hakim's journey began in a humble household, surrounded by love and guided by strong values instilled by his devoted parents, Robert and Evelyn Hankerson. As he grew older, he developed a deep appreciation for education, recognizing its transformative power. Hakim excelled academically and never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge and encourage others to pursue their dreams.

After graduating from Montgomery Fort High School, Hakim pursued his higher education at the renowned University of Kentucky, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Armed with his newfound knowledge, he embarked on a successful career, finding fulfillment in the finance sector.

While Hakim achieved professional success, he cherished his role as a dedicated husband and loving father above all else. In 1992, he met the love of his life, Samantha Thompson, and they sealed their bond in holy matrimony a year later. Together, they welcomed two beautiful children into the world, Emily and Michael, who became the center of Hakim's world.

Hakim had an unwavering commitment to serving his community. With a genuine desire to make a positive impact, he immersed himself in various charitable organizations, dedicating his time and resources to uplift those in need. His selflessness and empathy offered solace and a glimmer of hope to countless individuals who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

Aside from being a pillar of strength for his family and community, Hakim had a profound appreciation for the arts. He possessed a natural talent for painting and frequently expressed his artistic vision through breathtaking masterpieces. His artwork captured the essence of life, often reflecting his deep connection to nature and the human experience.

Hakim's free spirit was matched only by his adventurous nature. He possessed an unquenchable thirst for exploring the world and experiencing different cultures, leaving no corner of the globe unexplored. From hiking the majestic trails of Machu Picchu to strolling the cobblestone streets of Paris, he embraced each adventure with boundless enthusiasm and an open heart.

On August 22, 2023, tragedy struck as we unexpectedly lost Hakim, leaving an indescribable void in our hearts. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy will endure through the memories and immeasurable impact he had on our lives. Hakim will forever be remembered as a beacon of light, compassion, and humility.

Hakim leaves behind his adoring wife, Samantha; his beloved children, Emily and Michael; his devoted parents, Robert and Evelyn; his siblings, Marcus and Alicia; as well as countless cherished relatives and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary individual, let us also rejoice in the privilege of having shared in his journey. Hakim's memory will forever inspire us to embrace each day with unwavering kindness, pursue knowledge, and savor the beauty of life's simplest joys.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Hakim's memory to the Hakim Hankerson Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide educational opportunities for underprivileged students, continuing his lifelong commitment to empowering others through education.
