YORK Hallie Leona (Freed) Testerman passed away on May 8, 2015, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Testerman after 62 years of marriage and her parents William Patrick Freed and Nellie Leona (Gordon) Freed. Hallie was born on June 7, 1929 in Churchville, Va., and grew up in and graduated from high school in Washington, D.C. and cherished many summers visiting her grandparents in Churchville and Waynesboro, Va. She moved to York, in 1968 with her husband and children but always quietly proclaimed herself a southerner in tribute to her strong ties to her family in Virginia. She is survived by her daughter, Gale Runkle and her husband Randy; son, Jim Testerman and his husband Rob Spinazzola; granddaughters, Miranda Church and her husband Carl and Kelly Runkle; great-grandchildren, Kalli Runkle, Riley Church, and Katlynn Church; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews in Virginia and Florida. Hallie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. In addition to coordinating the activities of a busy family she worked in the family owned businesses; Bob Antiques of Dallastown and the Dallastown New Agency. She was affectionately referred to as "mom" by many of the boys and girls who delivered newspapers in Dallastown in the 1970s. Prior to her retirement she was an active volunteer in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Goodwill Fire Company and in her church. Upon retirement she traveled in and out of the country with her husband of 62 years. For the past four years she resided at Senior Commons at Powder Mill and is a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by those whom she nurtured, cared for, and supported during her time here with us. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Testerman will held on Friday, May 15, 2015, 11 a.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry, 50 School St. York, PA 17402, with the Rev. Ken Loyer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown.
