Harold G. MileyZANESVILLE: Harold G. Miley, 91 of Zanesville died at 9:05 pm Sunday January 03, 2016 at the Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born on Friday, September 19, 1924 near Senecaville, OH the Son of Norval S. Miley and Olive Grace (Danford) Miley. Harold was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; He served his community proudly as Sergeant and Assistant Post Commander of the Highway State Patrol of Zanesville, Ohio for many years, and he retired in 1977. He then went on to be a semi-truck driver for Columbia Cement, and after that became the Safety supervisor for Putnam Transfer. He was a faithful Brother of the Free Masons and attended the Masonic Lodge Lafayette#79 of the Free and Accepted Masons & Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and the Amrou Grotto # 45 M.O.V.P.E.R Harold's love of family, and strong work ethic were present very early in life as he began his life working on the family's farm in Buffalo, OH. Harold was a skilled worker, who held many important positions throughout his career. He was a graduate of Valley Rural High School, The Ohio State Patrol Academy, and attended The Ohio University. Harold married his sweetheart, Helen in 1946 and they raised three children together. Harold enjoyed being physically active, so he maintained an active lifestyle by gardening, traveling, and completing all his home maintenance himself. He is survived by his children; Kenneth Miley, Indianapolis, Indiana, Marilyn Green Boiling Springs, South Carolina and Karen Miley Columbus Ohio; his grandchildren; Stephen Miley and Tonya Lemons; Gina Allen, Shannon Garcia; Great Grandchildren, Brookie and Ben Lemons and Lauren Cummings; Great grandchildren, Eric Lovelace, Brandon Blake, Tyler Blake, Aaron Lee and Alexandria Snyder; Great great granddaughter, Laura Cummings; his brother in law Hermon Cubbison of Winchester, Kentucky, and his beloved nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by the "Love of his life, his wife Helen J. (Szuber) Miley, who died in August of 2015; his brother Paul Miley, his sister Clarice Cubbison, his sister Doris Haugh, brother in law Amos Haugh; sister in law Roberta Miley; and a grandson Robert Andrews. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday January 8th 2016, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 9, 2016 with one hour visitation prior to service at the St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Combs officiating. Burial will conclude at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Pleasant City, Ohio.Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 116 North 7th Street, Zanesville OH.
