Harold Harris, affectionately known as "Shank" or "Stewmaster," of 149 Quarry Lane Rawlings, Va., departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was born on June 10, 1943, to the late James and Sallie Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mable B. Harris; daughter, Arlene Harris Rhodes; three brothers, James, Raven, and Cecil Harris; and a sister, Queen Harris Morgan.Harold confessed Christ at an early age, and became a member of Lovely Zion Baptist Church, Rawlings, Va., where he served as the sexton until his failing health. Harold attended the Brunswick County Public Schools and was previously employed at the Rest Area and The Button Factory. In his younger days, he played for the WestSide Devils. He continued to love his Westerns until his last days.Harold leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Elizabeth Mayo (James), Debra Harris (Thomas Boyd), and Mabel L. Harris; son-in-law, Bobby "Gene" Rhodes; one sister, Rosa McFarland (Pete); one brother, Joe Harris (Juanita); five sisters-in law, Catherine Fields, Mary J. Morgan, Shirley Fields, Selia Harris, and Mary Harris; one brother-in-law, Preston Morgan, Sr. (Deborah); six grandchildren, Micheal (Jasmine Jones), Deon, and Genera Harris, Jalisa Hill, Jasmine Boyd, and Donyelle Rhodes; three great-grandchildren, Faith Green, Serenity Brodnax, and Siyonna Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives, among them devoted friends, Donald Cheely, Ricky Gilliam, Sr., Lee Hill, and many others, a devoted nephew, Raven Harris, Jr. and a special friend, Dorothy Moore.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at Lovely Zion Baptist Church, 5385 Rawlings Road, Rawlings, VA 23876 with Rev. James Geter, officiating and Rev. Jeffrey Harris, eulogizing. Public viewing will be held Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the McKenney Chapel.
